Kitchen Trends 2022

Glass walls or doors

This material offers an expansive sense of space and brightens up even the most cramped corners. Glass is easy on the eyes, and does not obstruct your view. This invaluable benefit of glass allows you to traverse from one room to another with ease and drenched in tonnes

of filtered and diffused natural light. Replacing internal walls with glass partition walls has many advantages, they open up a layout but keep areas defined, they afford beautiful views from one room to another, they let the light flow throughout and are architecturally striking.

Use of Bold Colours

Bringing colour into your kitchen design can be transformative and can completely change the mood of your cooking space. The trend for using bold, dark colours in the kitchen has been rumbling around for some time now but there has definitely been an expansion in the shades being used— with forest green and burgundy joining navy as top ranking colours more.

Use bold bursts to highlight a key area, but if this sounds too much, a two-tone effect may work better for you. Take a bold colour to your lower units and balance it on top with a neutral shade or some open shelving so it doesn’t feel overwhelming.

Be adventurous and playful with colour and textures by introducing bright accessories. Colourful crockery and statement glassware add personality to the dining table, whilst vibrant chairs create visual impact to a new kitchen style, as well as creating a decorative touch.

Herringbone Floors

Distinctively recognised by an arrangement of rectangles, so named for a fancied resemblance to the bones of a fish, such as a herring. Truly inspired by nature, the classic Herringbone pattern is sure to make a statement when laid.

Herringbone floor does make any sized room look bigger, particularly smaller or narrower spaces such as hallways due to its pattern. Thanks to the illusion of movement given, this style of flooring is a fantastic space enhancer you should certainly consider for any room refresh. Opting for a lighter coloured Herringbone can make darker spaces seem brighter and more open.

Marble, Marble, Marble

When it comes to selecting kitchen countertops, marble remains the top choice for many

homeowners. It’s no surprise that marble countertops and backsplashes are so popular. Marble is heat resistant, but to help keep a marble countertop looking its best, experts say piping hot pots and pans should be placed on top of a kitchen towel, pot holder, or trivet. Also, sealing a marble countertop on a yearly basis will help it resist stains and light scratches. Another good to know, there are many different types of marble to choose from.

It’s an absolutely gorgeous natural stone with every slab being a piece of art.

Wood Kitchen Cabinets

Wooden kitchen ideas might not be anything new, but the way in which designers are now celebrating the beauty of wood within the kitchen and in the units they are producing is.

From finishes that really draw out the textures within the wood, to new treatments, 2022 is certain to be full of wooden kitchens that exude style and encourage a connection with nature.

Mesh Fronted Cabinets

Linking in nicely with the metallic touches that are such hot news right now, mesh-fronted units are on the rise. They offer a pleasing compromise between glass and solid-fronted units, disguising messy contents without appearing heavy or overbearing.

This look makes for a sophisticated twist on industrial style.

Statement Light fixtures

Kitchen lighting ideas are an important part of any successful design scheme, with functional and aesthetic illumination particularly important in a space that is used increasingly for entertaining as much as cooking. Think enormous pendants, great big dangling statement pieces and shades that glimmer internally thanks to their metallic coatings.

Antique and Smoked Glass

Antique mirror glass is a vintage style of mirror that often looks rusty or decaying. It has become increasingly popular in modern interior design, with many homes undergoing renovations choosing to use antique mirrors to spruce up the interior. It really lifts a tired décor and adds a great air of sophistication to any space. Same as normal silver mirror, antique mirror can be polished or bevelled.

Walnut Cabinets

We have recently seen a rise in walnut cabinetry. It’s rich, dark colour, fine grain and natural warmth are prized by makers for its feeling of instant luxury. Walnut kitchens also tick the trend for a natural finish in the kitchen, plus they sit brilliantly well alongside metallic and burnished finishes, as well as crisp white. Just remember that walnut is one of the only timbers that will lighten over time, so you need to be prepared to maintain it.

Gold Touches

First it was copper, then brass and now gold, these luxury metal touches have slowly been creeping into the kitchen for a few years now and are set to overtake stainless steel and brushed nickel finishes. Now taps/ faucets are available in a wide choice of colours and finishes, sinks are following. Adding a touch of gold to your kitchen, creates a sense of regal sophistication

Smart Appliances

Just when you thought that kitchen appliances were doing as much as they possibly could to make life easier, they just got even smarter.

From ovens that carry out recipes on your behalf and even take on the role of intuitively adjusting temperature, to fridges that even order your shopping.

The boiling water taps we were all in awe of a couple of years ago have seen an upgrade too, most smart taps now also dispense boiling, chilled, filtered and sparkling too.

Dining Booths

Kitchen Booths are a combination of relaxed seating teamed with the sociable kitchen location. Booths are a great choice because they add so much flexibility to your space, are a change to add flair, and can save precious space. Plus, if you’re creating a kitchen fit for a family then it’s one of the best solutions available. By designing seating around a breakfast bar or island, you can also utilise the extra work surface, too. If you have a larger area, bench seating tends to be successful in giving that wow factor, as well as comfortably accommodating a bigger family.

Metallic Cabinets

Create wonderful kitchens with metal kitchen cabinets with many styles such as minimalist, modern or industrial. Metal cabinets that you can design with many types and materials will give you freedom with their simplicity and will bring elegance to your kitchens with a simple touch. An eye-catching design element, the framing can be a great option for open shelving, with the metal finish carried through to features such as taps and sinks.
